Social Media Assets for Unruly

I often produce social media assets for Unruly that are not necessarily tied to a specific campaign. Sometimes I produce assets to promote an event we may be attending or holding, sometimes I promote research our Insights team has put together, or maybe it’s something small for the holidays. No matter what is produced for our social media, it’s my job as the in-house graphic designer to maintain the brand image and messaging regardless of subject matter. The catch, however, is to always make the content engaging and not static. Here is a selection of a few social media assets I’ve created over the years while working at Unruly.

In September 2018, Unruly hosted one of our Trust Talks events in New York. These two sets of social assets were made for the Unruly Instagram account to promote the event; one set for the organic feed and one for the stories. The event was being hosted at the Ace Hotel which has a very old school New York feel, so I chose a black and white image of the New York skyline to evoke those old world feelings, but to also bring some elegance to the assets. I broke the photo up into three sections to play into the three grid layout of Instagram and really take advantage of the platform.

Every year for the Super Bowl, we test the Super Bowl ads with our product Unruly EQ to see which ads have the greatest emotional impact amongst viewers, then we release an insights study with those findings. For Super Bowl LIV, along with our normal Super Bowl social media campaign, we decided to do a fun promotion for our SB ad research in conjunction with National Pizza Day.

The goal in tying our Super Bowl ad insights to Pizza Day was not just for fun, but to get people a little more intrigued or interested in finding out the full results of the study and prompting them to sign up for more. Posting something in honor of National Pizza Day is a little strange, but I utilized Unruly’s brand emojis to play into the quirky aspect of it all.

While for Instagram, I broke the stats up into panels you can swipe through, for the Unruly blog and LinkedIn, I made different graphics that included all the statistics in one image.

Most social assets that I create for Unruly, I have to create for all of our social channels. Those channels are: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. So I’m constantly working in different dimensions and I have to make sure the visuals look consistent across each channel. Programmatic IO in 2019 was one event that we were attending, and our CEO at the time was also speaking at, so there were two different visuals I created for each social platform. I utilized our Unruly slant to help alleviate any spacial issues I might have run into across the different dimensions. I also wanted to make sure the color palette was cohesive across the two different visuals since they were for the same event.
