For International Women’s Day 2021, I was tasked with animating some social media posts to promote the Unruly Insights team research, which focused on how progressive portrayals of gender in ads can have a positive impact on a brand’s bottom line. I worked with a teammate who designed the static assets and then I brought the individual designed elements into After Effects to create short animations for the social campaign. My teammate and I worked seamlessly to create these outputs, each focusing on our respective strengths to make the campaign assets eye catching. We also had to combine the Unruly branding with the existing IWD branding to create something cohesive. Below are some static screenshots of the IWD assets from the social campaign. You can visit the different Unruly social channels to see the posts in action.

There were two different designs for this years IWD campaign. One design utilized the IWD hashtag and the other simply highlighted the abbreviation IWD.

To seamlessly integrate the IWD purple into the design, we not only used the Unruly yellow but also the coral and teal sub brand colors to create a more dimensional color palette so the incorporation of the purple did not seem out of place.

The goal with the animation was to do something short and punchy, and because the focus was on typography, I wanted the animation to keep its focus on the text.

The one constant throughout each output was the border, which included the Unruly logo as well as the IWD logo, along with other pertinent IWD information. This was another element incorporated into the design to keep everything cohesive and consistent.

Every year, a handful of female Unruly employees goes to the London Girls School to talk about their experiences working in the ad industry. Due to COVID, my colleagues were unable to attend in person, however, our marketing manager recorded Zoom conversations with the employees and I edited the video to send to the Girls School.

There were 4 different Zoom calls recorded, so I cut together all the videos according to the questions asked to create a cohesive narrative. I created an intro title card as well as question title cards to include throughout the video when the next question was asked.

Along with the full length video, I also created a minute long trailer version that was posted on the Unruly LinkedIn page so others can watch the video if they so wish.
